About Outdoor Athlete Training Center
Outdoor Athlete Training Center is a collaboration of fitness professionals and organisations led by John Colver; former cycling national champion, mountain guide and athletic coach. John is also the author of the award-winning book, Fit by Nature - which has guided groups and individuals to achieve health, fitness and fulfillment through a balanced approach to finding our best potential through adventure, fitness and community.
The strength of OATC is it’s team. We can do what we do because of collaborations with professionals and practitioners at the forefront of their fields, the programs use evidence-based coaching, peer-reviewed science, and data-driven methods to train athletes of all levels.
We believe a key principle from first enquiry, to your wildest success, is Joy. We deliver education not motivation because we know the inspiration we all need comes through us, as long as we are in an environment where we feel safe, supported and nurtured.
Creating this environment, whether on the mountain, the yoga mat, or in a training session - is our superpower, and is the core thread in the way we invite instructors, partners and organisations and people we serve. Our drive is to infuse your training, learning, results and life - with the joy, knowledge and skills which everyone in our organisation brings to everything we do.
From beginners, to experts, people from all walks of life have used Fit By Nature as an easy-to-follow and no-nonsense approach for life, health, and fitness. Clients have climbed the highest mountains and walked across countries on adventures, but mostly we serve ordinary humans who want a structured support system to be the best versions of themselves.
Environment: In Fit By Nature, we explore how beauty of the environment we are in, impacts our wellbeing and progress, so we seek to offer our in-person coaching and retreat programs in spectacular places; where we can feel and be infused with the magic of the world we live in, whether it be a tropical paradise, dazzling snowscapes or the top of high mountains. You’ll find us in Utah, in Park City and it’s beautiful mountain surroundings. Also in Saint George, Utah - the home of IronMan world championships and gateway to Southwest adventure. Hawaii is close to our heart and a perfect location for yoga fitness retreats, training and spectacular hiking, especially in the northern winter months. And Africa; Ten times since 2005 our groups have sat on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro looking out over the plains and contemplating how far and high we’ve come, to find the best in ourselves and others. Are we a bunch of romantics, dreamers, following our hearts, wandering the globe and living our best lives? Well yes - at least as much as we can, and we’re also super-pragmatic, logical, thoughtful in our approach. We use the peer reviewed science, work with only the best instructors we can find - and we’re wholly committed to providing professional services which you can count on to help fuel your journey of a life lived well.
Like many organisations, we also offer remote coaching through online tools, technology, apps, and data-tracking tools.
And we’ll come to you. We consult on wellness program development both national and internationally for organsiations including some of the worlds most successful companies, outdoor industry, military, government, healthcare and charitable organisations.
